Did you know?
- 80% of 4 – 5 year olds are grouped by ability for phonics in primary school
- Grouping children by ability appears to particularly benefit higher ability children.
Our aim is to give pre-school children the opportunity to develop their phonics and mathematical skills, giving them the best possible start to their education. In our teaching experience it is clear that children who start primary school with mathematics and phonics skills already established, continue to excel throughout their education. There is also overwhelming evidence that shows that a child’s achievement in Key Stage One impacts on the rest of their education and career path.

Hi, I’m Jaimey Thomas the creator and founder of Intellistars. I am an experienced Primary School Teacher with a passion for creative learning.
As a mother of a very energetic toddler, I began to use my love of learning to ensure that my daughter learnt basic phonics and mathematical skills before she could talk. I constantly created new games to develop these skills, without letting her feel like she was ever ‘learning’. By the age of 18 months she was able to recall the letter sounds for every letter in the alphabet and could count to 15.
This drove my passion for pre-school education and sparked the idea of Intellistars. I am determined to give other young children the skills that will allow them to be mentally ready for starting primary school. When children start school unprepared or behind their peers, this can knock their confidence and give them a negative view towards learning. My aim is to help to build the self-esteem of as many pre-school children as possible, establishing a love for learning.
